At full occupancy, complaints about queues, rooms not ready and parking pile up. Please share what works for you.

Questions
Do you have a scripted first sentence for complaints? How well does it work?
How much compensation can front-desk staff grant on their own (upgrade, F&B voucher, late check-out)?
How are complaints handed over between shifts so guests don't repeat themselves?

One commonly used approach, for discussion: listen without interrupting; apologise for how the guest feels (without rushing to assign blame); restate the problem to confirm it; give a clear next step and time; follow up afterwards. Many hotels build their scripts on this.

Follow-up: for "room not ready" complaints, do you give a specific ETA? And if you miss that promised time, how do you handle the second contact?
